Blue or Pink... What to You Think?

Saturday, March 10th I had my baby shower at Bill & Kim Taylor's house, thrown by my Mom and sisters.  It was a lot of fun! Everyone who came got to make a special onesie, diaper cloth, and/or contribute to a blanket for the baby.  It was AWESOME to see everyone's creativity!  We ended up with some really, really cute stuff, and I can't wait to see Baby put it all to use!

We had chicken salad croissant sandwiches for our light lunch; fruit pizza bar for dessert (which I totally have no pictures of, dang it lol); Favors were cute little personal apple cobblers!!

A HUGE MAHALO to everyone who came and helped out, especially my family, for throwing it, the Taylors for allowing us to use their home, and Galeai's for helping with prep and for the dessert!  (FYI, thank you cards will be going out soon... in case you were wondering where yours is, haha.)

BABY UPDATE: "...in 2 or 3 Days"

Saturday I was getting contractions like CRAZY-- 3-5 minutes apart, some pretty painful, some not so much...  D was on it, got the car packed and car seat ready, just in case the baby was on its way.  We called the hospital, and they had me come in to check if I was dilated.  I was pretty sure I wasn't going into labor, but better safe than sorry.

I saw two nurses who both said I was at 2 1/2 (YAY!  Already better progression than with Keaka!! LOL), and that my cervix was REALLY soft. The second nurse I saw (an older woman who was AWESOME, might I add-- I seriously love the older nurses lol) was very impressed with how soft my cervix is, and said I'll be in labor in 2 or 3 days.

That SO made my night... However, those "2 or 3 days" have come and gone... still, nothing lol. In fact, it's almost been a week.  Killing me.

ANYWAY, she said I could go home; and after an hour of monitoring, another hour of walking around, and then one more hour of monitoring, I was totally exhausted and ready to go home and crash.

Wednesday morning I had another appointment; got checked again, and was still at 2 1/.2... My doctor stripped my membranes to see if that'll help get things going more (and HOLY UNCOMFORTABLE and AWKWARD, oh my goodness!).  That started some strong contractions up very quickly, but within a few hours they tapered off yet again.

The GOOD NEWS is that I will be getting induced on Wednesday the 14th at 7am if the baby hasn't come by then.... So I'm trying to take it easy the next few days so I can at least make it to my baby shower!  Anytime after 12 noon on Saturday is ideal, haha!!  But who knows-- this child obviously has his or her own agenda! ;)

So, before labor starts (false or true) again, I figure I should post belly shot, as in the non-alcoholic kind of belly shot (BWAHAHAHAH!!).  Everyone has been asking, and it's probably about time, haha!  So here I am, makeup-less... looking and feeling like hell at 38 weeks!  So close, and yet so far!   >.<

Big Sister, Big Helper!

Way back when we first found out we were expecting Baby #2, I decided I wanted to make a "Big Sister Apron" for Keaka (Pinterest idea! BAM!), so she can help me out with the baby.  It has taken me pretty much all 9 months to start and finish it, but HEY!  It's officially done!

The Big Sister To-Be!

To make sure Keaka remembers her "Mexi-roots" (when it comes to Nickelodeon anyway), I decided to make her a Dora the Explorer apron.  (Ok, honestly, I already had bought the Dora material like a year and a half ago on clearance...  Don't hate.)  So are you proud of me?!  Totally didn't have a pattern or anything!  Just made it up! LOL.

Booty shot!
Keaka is totally in love with it.  She sleeps in it-- not even kidding.

Side view-- this pic totally does NOT even look like her!  Looks like a lil monster... haha!

The pockets are stuffed with travel-sized baby items: shampoo, body wash, Desitin, powder, wipes, baby lotion... And she also has an attached hand sanitizer.  SO, she's been put in charge of giving me any of the above if I need it to help with baby, AND most importantly, she's in charge making sure everyone who wants to touch the baby has clean, sanitized, hands (whether its us, Papa, Tutu, aunties, or other visitors, etc.).  We'll see if she really does the latter LOL.  Needless to say, she is totally excited to be our "super helper" and BIG SISTER!

9 Months

I am officially in my 9th month of pregnancy!  I'm soooo ready for it to be done lol.  I've been getting contractions, some pretty intense ones... Definitely feeling more pressure on my back and hips/pelvic area... and I've totally got that "preggo waddle". Haha!  But I got checked last week to see if I'm dilated-- which they said I'm maybe a ONE.  Boo.  That's okay, though, hopefully it all just happens quickly during labor.

I had an appointment yesterday-- there, my doc informed me that she'd like to deliver in 3 weeks, when I'm 39 weeks, if the baby hasn't come before then (my blood pressure has been a little high, and because of that, they don't like to prolong the pregnancy and let it go on and on).  David and I are actually excited that we have a week we can kind of plan on having the baby...  What's funny is that it's the week RIGHT after the date of my baby shower! LOL!  We'll see if baby makes his or her debut before or after the shower!

So now, it's crunch time.  We did go through our baby stuff last week, brought in and set up the crib...  I feel like I still have a million things to do!  haha.  But we are SO excited to welcome our little angel home.  It can't come soon enough!! :)

Happy Happy Birthday, Keaka dear!

Keaka turned 3 years old in November!  Such a big girl already!  David and I were so excited to make her birthday super special this year-- last one as an only child! haha.

David woke up early to pick up breakfast and 30 balloons from Zurcher's, which we scattered in our bedroom (where Keaka slept the night before).  When she woke up, she was surprised to be surrounded by tons of balloons, breakfast in bed, and a present waiting for her to open!

Keaka also received a birthday phone call from Princess Jasmine, at it was definitely one of highlights of her birthday!   She told EVERYONE about it!

After breakfast, Keaka got dressed in her birthday tutu and high heels (haha), and David & I took her to Toys 'R Us to spend the $3 gift card she got in the mail from Geoffrey the Giraffe-- She even got a birthday balloon & birthday crown from the workers there!  Keaka bought herself a Lalaloopsy toy, and happily handed over her "credit card" to pay for it.  Once in the car, she realized she didn't/couldn't get her card back from the cashier, which upset her for a good portion of the afternoon, LOL.

David left for work after Toys 'R Us, and Keaka and I went to "Papa's house" to hang out, til we went to dinner at Chuck E. Cheese (David was able to take a half-day at work, and met us there shortly after we arrived)!  Keaka had a BLAST playing and earning tickets!  She especially enjoyed the rollercoaster simulators & horse racing ride!

 Opening a few presents...

 New bed set

Curtains

She had so much fun that she didn't eat much of her pizza dinner, nor her chocolate birthday cake! She loved opening her presents, which consisted of a Tinkerbell bedroom set (matching sheets, comforter, and curtains), her own Princess microphone & amp set, a Princess Tiana Barbie doll, a dry-erase alphabet workbook, and Hungry Hungry Hippo game.

Keaka, November 14, 2008-- just a few minutes old

...and now she's THREE!

We can't believe our baby is THREE YEARS OLD!  Man, how time flies!  Seems like yesterday, David and I were at the doctor's office, and he shocked us by saying I was "still pregnant" with this little miracle.

Happy, Happy Birthday, baby girl!

A few weeks left in 2011....

So there's a few weeks left in 2011... I figure I can try and squeeze in a few more posts before the year is over! hahah!

My pregnancy has been going well-- a few weeks into the second trimester, my nausea disappeared for the most part.  I've been feeling really good, and I hope it continues as long as possible as I'm getting into the third trimester, LOL.

My cravings have been pretty simple-- MEXICAN and CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES.  There was a point a few weeks ago where I was baking chocolate chip cookies every other night, if not EVERY night (which might explain why our oven broke... hmm, that just occurred to me! Boo!  It's a good thing I married a man who is great at fixing things, haha!)...  and I can totally eat Mexican every, single day (I don't, but I totally could!  It's amazing and WEIRD that I've only gained 7 pounds so far, LOL).  Poor David has made numerous late night runs to Betos to satisfy my Mexican food cravings, buying things like carnitas tacos, carne asada tacos, or, my personal fave, carne asada fries!!  He's such a good husband, isn't he?! lol.

We had our big ultrasound about a little over a month ago, and we did NOT find out the gender!!  WOOHOO!!  Going all traditional with this one! haha.  This baby has been pretty stubborn, as we've had to get a few extra ultrasounds due to it's noncooperation (not that we're complaining!)--hiding it's feet from the ultrasound techs, then it's spine, then it's head... haha.  But all in all, baby is growing very, very well and is healthy.  I can tell this one already has a different personality than Keaka.  It'll be interesting to see how much they differ after it is born!

Keaka has been absolutely positive from the beginning that this baby is a girl.  She has no doubt whatsoever LOL.  David and I have been trying to explain to her this past week that there is a possibility that the baby might be a boy, which really upset her LOL.  But we explained that "even though it might be a boy, we will still love the baby," and she agreed.  The day after we told her that, I brought it up again, to reiterate-- I asked her, "Is the baby a girl or a boy?"  She replied, "It's a girl." I told her, "but it's okay if it's a boy, right?"  to which she responded, "BUT it's okay if it's a girl!!" LOL.  She is too much...

Happy News!

Seriously?!  It's been OVER A YEAR since our last blog update?!?!  That's messed up!  I guess nothing has been that exciting or "blog-worthy" maybe?  Oh goodness. I need to get on the ball.

I suppose I should make this a really good come-back post then, right?!  Well... you're in luck!  Because....

David and I are EXCITED to announce that we are expecting our second baby March 20th!

Ultrasound picture, 12 weeks

Woohoo! :) That makes me a little over 12 weeks along.  I'm not really craving anything in particular yet, except for Hawaiian food (specifically laulau, lomi salmon, & poke) and sushi (We did go to Sushi Ya a few weekends ago, and best believe I ate any sushi that had crab and shrimp!)... Just wish I could eat the fish RAW, so I could satisfy my lomi salmon and poke cravings!  But it's all good... Baby is worth it. :)  I've been feeling ridiculously more sick this pregnancy than with my last, to the point where I've had to cancel hula a few times because of it.  It's been a little better this past week, and I'm really hoping I don't have to deal with morning sickness too much the next 6 months!  I must say, I'm loving the pills from my doctor for the nausea, though! They work like magic! haha!

Keaka has been amazing, and very understanding so far.  She is so excited and already protective of "her baby," making sure everyone steers clear of Mommy's stomach!  With the exception of slipping once in Nursery a few Sundays ago and blurting out "My mommy's having a baby!" (hahahah!!), she has done a fantastic job at keeping the baby a secret for the past few months. She can't wait to be a big sister!

I can't begin to describe how excited I am for this baby to arrive-- David and I cannot wait!  I'm keeping my fingers crossed that with all the birthdays and holidays coming up (starting in October), this pregnancy should fly by.  Let's just hope it really goes that way, haha!

ʻOhana DJ Visit

HOLY COW. Itʻs been a while. LOL. What can I say?! Itʻs been a pretty busy summer. Most summers are that way, especially for our family I guess. That also means I have a lot to post about, I suppose, haha!

Well... The first EXCITING thing that happened over the summer was when the DJs came to visit us (everyone minus Haweo & Unko Daryl)! They were here for 4th of July, and it was SO fun. We ate wayyy too much food (ohhh but it was so delish! haha!) & laughed wayyy too much, haha. Iʻm so glad they were all able to come and hang out. We donʻt get to see our Hawaiʻi ʻohana very often, so whatever time we are able to spend with them is extremely special.

These are the cupcakes that Faryn, Aleʻa, & I decorated on 4th of July LOL. I know what youʻre thinking... those are freaking AWESOME!!! Yep. I know. (hahaha)

Keaka & Liko LOVING the swings at the park! Liko told me: "This is the best day EVER, cause we came to da park, and we went on da paddle boats, and we got to swing... Life is so much better over here." LOL!!! Sheʻs too funny.

Keaka making her way down the giant slide all by herself!

...and here she comes, all smiles!!

The cousins that were left after Kulia, Tani, and Kelsy all left. haha...

Likoʻula pushing Keaka in the stroller... LOL. What a good big cousin she is!

It was so fun having them here, and we miss them so much already! Lucky for us, we get to see Tani again this weekend!... which will result in another blog post, haha!

"Aunty Keaka-lani's Cooking Show"

Keaka LOVES to help out in the kitchen-- whether it be washing dishes, putting dishes away, or cooking. I decided to try letting her decorate some cookies, and now that easily ranks as one of her favorite things to do! It's so fun to just give her a bunch of sprinkles and watch her carefully put them on each cookie... so cute.

Sneaking some sprinkles.... naughty lil girl!

"Uh-oh!" Spilled some sprinkles...

Picking them up

POURING the sprinkles on!

... and MORE sprinkles!

Making sure all the sprinkles are stuck on the cookies! "Poke, poke, poke!"

"All pau, Mom!"

Watching them bake in the oven...

So excited for her cookies!!!

Ta-da!!! Yummy, decorated cookies! (the ones on the right are chocolate chip, haha)

Ready to dig in!!! :) Can you tell how anxious she was to eat them? Haha!
